(The Dirty Thirties) Juke Joint Collection

Imagine you are in rural Mississippi in the mid 1930s. Civil rights for African Americans were merely a Dream and the threat of violence was an everyday possibility. Yes sir, times were hard and for the majority, unrewarding, but they had the Blues and the juke joints to unwind and spiritualise their souls.

Musicians such as Willie Brown, Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Son House and countless others were scraping out a living playing the juke joint circuit. Their music was spiritual, vibrant and electrifying. While they played, patrons gambled, drank, danced and socialised after a hard days work. In order for their music to be heard above the relentless noise, they had to play louder. However, there is a limit to what they could achieve as they only had acoustic guitars or, at best, resophonic guitars to accompany their performances. Frustrated at not been able to hear your heroes play you wish someone had created a guitar that would amplify their music above the hullabaloo of the juke joint.

Had we been starting out in the Dirty Thirties, The Juke Joint Collection would have been our introductory model range complete with in-house designed pickups. We have tried to reflect not only, period Americana, but also the spirit of the Robert Johnson era Mississippi Delta. We are very proud of these concepts and we hope you like them too. As always, thank you for your time. SR
